When an emergency is discovered, critical decisions must be made. Should you approach the scene or go for help ? What hazard(s) caused the emergency? Are the hazards still present and are you in danger of them? What if there are serious injuries? How do you activate emergency services? Who should you call to help? What do you do after you call for help? How much first aid should be given? For emergency services personnel, the questions are just as important. What are the hazards and are we trained to manage them? How long has the patient been injured and what are the care issues? Do we have the tools and knowledge to perform a safe and effective rescue?

Managing Agricultural Emergencies strives to help those first on the scene and those called on to help understand these and other critical issues. Training the entire community how to manage on-farm emergencies will result in fewer deaths and disabling injuries as well as a reduction in property loss.
